Boating Regulations

Everyone Enjoys Winchester Boating

As much as everyone in this are loves the water and loves boating we try our best to provide facilities that accomdiate everyone. Unfortuniately we have a limited number of boat slips available. So we have placed various rules to help keep it fair to everyone.

There are three locations for keeping your boat in the water during Summer. The most popular is the boat basin. Located at the bottom of Knolwood Rd., Annapolis sailingthe ease of access and ideal location for protection from rough waters makes this the most sought after location in the community. No wonder all the spots are taken.
The second is locally refered to as little cove. This small pier sits in shallow water and is currently only accessable by crossing the Libby's property and decending a long set of steps built into the hillside. We have made attempts to expand this pier but due to local zoning laws, we are not able to do so at this time. We try to revisit this idea with some fresh minds every few years.
The third location is the pier at Winchester Beach. This is one of the longest piers on the Severn River. The slip depth range from shallow at the base of the pier to over six feet at the far end. This location is easily accessable by car and once you have your boat going you are off and running right up the Severn. The one problem with this location is the large boat activity on the river during the Summer months. This will cause frequent large waves that will knock your boat around if you don't tie it up properly.

We also have boat rack spots at Winchester beach and at the boat basin for small row boats, canoes and kayaks.
Winchester sailing race Sept. 1971 For Winter storage, due paying members are allowed to keer their boat stored on a trailer at the beach parking lot for a specified time frame.

In order to keep all this stright, we have a set or rules and regulations governing this very precious commodity. Please read through the rules and regulations to inform yourself of the current status.
